Piketberg is a small town in the province of Western Cape, South Africa, lying in the foothills of the Piketberg Mountains.
Piketberg is known for its wheat farming in the foothills of the mountain range and for fruit and rooibos on the mountain range’s higher regions. It is a surprising visit for tourists looking for adventure as there is a vast space to explore and much scenic beauty. Around the area, you can find crops, vineyards, orchards and tea farms. The town also has an impressive Dutch Reformed Church that was designed by Carl Otto Hager in a neo-Gothic style, appearing intimidatingly large and white.
Before the arrival of Europeans in the area, the Khoikhoi and the San occupied the area that Piketberg now makes up, making the region known for its well-preserved San rock art in the mountain’s cave systems.
