Morningside is a suburb of Johannesburg, and one of the most affluent suburbs in the Sandton area of the city.  Straddling Rivonia Road, Morningside provides a calm, tree-lined suburban oasis away from the corporate bustle of Sandton and the heavy traffic up and down Rivonia Road.

One of these islands of calm can be found at the Outspan Bird Sanctuary, located on the banks of the Outspan Spruit. Here you will find a number of local bird species, with the two-hectare sanctuary providing a green space and peace for both bird- and nature-lovers.

The residential suburb is a mix of rambling older houses set on large properties, secure cluster-home developments and ultra-modern mansions belonging to the captains of South Africa industry, many of whom work in the financial centres of Sandton, or the nearby commercial hubs of Rosebank or Woodmead.

There are a number of shopping centres in Morningside, including the Morningside Shopping Centre and the Village Walk Shopping Centre.  These centres tend to offer a more sedate and peaceful shopping experience than some of the mega-centres of Sandton, in tune with the calmer energy of Morningside itself.

The Morningside Clinic is a prominent landmark in the suburb, as are a number of hotels serving business travellers visiting the many corporate located in the suburbs along Rivonia Road.
