Robertson is a small town in the province of the Western Cape in South Africa, which is well known for being the heart of the Route 62 wine route.
Best known for its wine related attractions, Robertson sits on Route 62 under shadow of the tall Langeberg Mountain Range and with the Breede River running alongside. Because of the relaxing accommodation and culinary delights, the area is also a popular destination for getaways from the city, particularly for Cape Town residents as it is only a one and a half hour scenic drive from the city centre.
Surprisingly, apart from the relaxing wine affairs that can be had, Robertson is also well known as a centre for skydiving and parachuting. In fact, the Western Province Sport Parachute Club is otherwise known as Skydive Robertson and is the oldest surviving club of its kind in South Africa, operating out of the town’s small airfields.
But if visitors are not convinced of the fun had by blazing through the sky, then the Arangieskop Trail is a wonderful two day circular hiking route that weaves through the Dassieshoek Nature Reserve and last for 20 kilometres and reaches the top of Arangieskop at 1620 metres above sea level.
