Sandown is an affluent residential and commercial suburb of Sandton in the city of Johannesburg. Sandton itself was named as a contraction of the names of two of its suburbs: Sandown and Bryanston. Aside from being home to many large South African and international companies, Sandown also hosts the Johannesburg Stock Exchange which, with a market capitalisation of more than a trillion US dollars, is the largest stock exchange in Africa.

Sandown houses the Sandton station on the popular Gautrain network, the commuter rail service linking O.R. Tambo International Airport to Johannesburg and Pretoria.

The homes in Sandown tend to stand on large, leafy and well-maintained properties, a reflection of the suburb’s up-market status.

Sandown is virtually on the doorstep of the high-end malls of Sandton Square, Sandton City and the Sandton Convention Centre, and the sophisticated shopping, world-class hotels and up-market dining ensure that an address in the suburb is highly sought-after, both by homeowners and businesses that have moved beyond the borders of the expensive Sandton central business district.

The suburb is also home to the tranquil Mushroom Farm Park, a lush, centrally-located park whose hilly, landscaped lawns, playground, jogging trails, outdoor gym and duck-pond make it an idyllic space for exercise and family picnics.  The park also features a hot-air balloon that rises 120m metres into the sky every 15 minutes offering stunning views of the general Sandton area.
