Sunninghill is a relatively new suburb of Johannesburg in the Guateng province of South Africa. It sits just north of the N1 freeway and, as is common with suburbs on the peri-urban edge of a large city, has seen large-scale growth in recent years as previously rural land has been developed for residential and commercial use.

The suburb is a young community and has been the place where many professionals in the financial, legal and IT industries have found their first homes, either commuting down the Rivonia Road corridor to the corporate hub running from Woodmead to Sandton and Rosebank, or being fortunate enough to work in the suburb – a luxury afforded not many who live in Johannesburg. Given its proximity to the N1, many multi-national corporates have located their offices in Sunninghill.  These include Acer, Eskom, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Astrazeneca, Unisys and RCI.  This location allows easy access to Sandton, Midrand and the N1 North to Pretoria.

As a new suburb, there is a young, vibrant energy present. Aside from a number of restaurants, Sunninghill also boasts the Barnyard Theatre, and is a short drive from the 25-hectare Rietfontein Nature Reserve in neighbouring Paulshof.  The local Sunninghill Gardens Park is used for family fun days and picnics and contributes to sense of a young community that pervades the suburb.
